U. S. Iraq Deaths Reach 4000

U.S. death toll in Iraq reaches 4,000

Grim milestone reached when IED kills 4 U.S. soldiers in Baghdad

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed four U.S. soldiers in Baghdad on Sunday, the military said, pushing the overall American death toll in the five-year war to at least 4,000.

The grim milestone came on the same day that rockets and mortars pounded the U.S.-protected Green Zone, underscoring the fragile security situation and the resilience of both Sunni and Shiite extremist groups despite an overall lull in violence.

Last year, the U.S. military deaths spiked along with the Pentagon's "surge" — the arrival of more than 30,000 extra troops trying to regain control of Baghdad and surrounding areas. The mission was generally considered a success, but the cost was evident as soldiers pushed into Sunni insurgent strongholds and challenged Shiite militias.

When the 1,000th American died in September 2004, the insurgency was gaining steam. The 2,000-death mark came in October 2005 as Iraq voted on a new constitution. The Pentagon announced its 3,000th loss on the last day of 2006 — a day after Saddam Hussein was hanged and closing a year marked by rampant sectarian violence.

I wonder how many Veterans of this "Foray for Freedom" will see that 4000 death toll and wish they were 4001? Their bodies, and/or their minds so bashed up that they hate the thought of waking up.

Others have described that McCains view of the war was from 20,000 feet, so the horrors of what his bombs were doing to the people on the ground were unknown to him. Perhaps I'm not being fair to him, but his war-mongering is even more distasteful to me because of this.

It's an awful price they pay for Bushco's lies.

McSame's support of things by this regime is a real turn-off to me.

Bushco's lies

Yes, and it was only Bush who lied. I know that the Iraqi government never lied, I know that the insurgents have never lied and I know for sue that Al-Qaeda never lied. LOL. How balanced of you.
by: Newbie (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 12:37
4000 is a little more than the combined population of Carlisle and Hazen. When I think of these two towns emptied, without a soul, it gives the number perspective.

This should have never started, but now it has to stop. To "stay the course" would be totally stupid.
by: blackdog (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 12:41
Newbie,

I'd be lying if I said I liked you, respected your opinion or was happy to see you revealing your unmitigated stupidity. I guess 4000 of our dead servicemen and women just gets lost when you want to ignore the truth.

Everybody lied, but Bush made sure that people died and there wouldn't have been any insurgents in Iraq if he hadn't lied and al-Qaeda could have been routed out of Afghanistan if he hadn't lied to distract us from bin Laden. Or have you forgotten him along with the 4000?
by: Deb (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 13:11
I'd be lying if I said I liked you, respected your opinion or was happy to see you revealing your unmitigated stupidity.

That is ok. It is the standard reaction around here when anyone posts facts or opinions that do not agree with the prevailing political bias of this site.

Everybody lied

Thank you. I didn't thing I would see that admitted to here.

Everybody lied

I had forgotten than Al-qaeda has never killed anyone. I had forgotten that the Iraqi government had never killed anyone. Oh, yes... we all know that the insurgents have killed nobody either. LOL. Thanks for the reminder.

there wouldn't have been any insurgents in Iraq

I will have to agree with this point. Before the war, all massacres and genocides were government operations.

Or have you forgotten him{bin Laden} along with the 4000?

At no time did I forget or deny the 4000 American servicemen killed or about bin Laden. If I said that I did, please show me the quote. Otherwise, you are mistaken.

No mention of the 4000, which is what the post was ABOUT! And the truth of the matter is that bin Laden has been forgotten, he was just a tool used to ramp up support for war. Otherwise he'd be dead by our hand and I haven't heard him mentioned by anyone but us liberals. We still want him punished while you dribble, giggle and wank about who lied.

And by the way, I wouldn't like you no matter what your political stance was. Stupidity is your idol and you worship at its feet way too often.
by: Debra (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 14:10
he was just a tool used to ramp up support for war.

Ah, you are saying that he was hired by 'Bushco' to destroy the World Trade Center? Are you saying that he was just a pawn used by 'Bushco'? That's a good one.

We still want him punished while you dribble, giggle and wank about who lied.

I am not "dribbling", "giggling" nor "wanking" about who liked. They all lied (see previous post). There is no question about it. Also, I would like to see bin Laden's trial and punishment just as much as you.
by: Newbie (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 14:51
You seem to be the definition of wank, dribble or giggle. It's all you seem to do well around here. Go away. I have better and more interesting discussions with starlings. No doubt you would like to see the trial of OBL as much as anyone else, I'll give you that, but you still remain a troll, and be glad that I am not the vice pResident with you on a quail hunt.

Deb,
You may have noticed that the sewer here at BBB has backed up again and overflowed onto a comment. That fetid piece of water closet effluviate has been spinning in its porcelain abode again.
That it is a misogynistic chunk of offal goes without saying; especially toward Foiled Goil. But you may notice that it again deflected the comment as is its usual wont.
The Iraqi Government didn't lie to us. The insurgents didn't even exist at the time and Bush thought Al-Qaeda was an airline in the mid east. But that doesn't stop yesterday's paper covered refuse from distorting again.
Ignore it. It doesn't even deserve a response. And it very definitely hates women; probably because its afraid of them. That's why it distorts and deflects. Because it can't offer anything intelligent.
It's best to simply flush again and go about our business.
by: Father H. Tyme (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 16:06
You seem to be the definition of wank, dribble or giggle.

You see the response that stating a fact will get you around here? I say that all sides involved lied (can you prove otherwise?) and look what it gets me... a bunch of name calling, but not any valid, supported response. When fact can not be refuted, the names start-a-flyin'.

The Iraqi Government didn't lie to us.

No, they just disregarded the UN resolutions.

Bush thought Al-Qaeda was an airline in the mid east.

Link? or is that an attempt at a joke?

That it is a misogynistic chunk of offal goes without saying; especially toward Foiled Goil.

Only because Foiled Goil has posted the most unpleasant and unfriendly posts in response to me. It is merely a mutual understanding of dislike.

I think that by "distorts and deflects", you should actually say posting facts and calling people on their lies.
by: Newbie (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 16:37
"Yes, and it was only Bush who lied."

Bush and company = Bushco. Sheesh. They fixed the intel. They used the WMD lies to lead us into a "war" and there was ONLY authorization to use military force, IF all other options failed, to "bring Iraq/Saddam into compliance." Instead, Bush decided to try "shock and awe" even though Saddam said he would leave the country, after W said he had to. There was NO connection between bin Laden and Saddam - they detested each other. Iraq did not attack us. Most of the 9/11 attackers were from Saudi Arabia. Bushco lied us into an illegal war and keeps lying to keep the occupation going. We've gone through this, many times. You just refuse to accept the facts. Find your own links, they're readily available.

"Only because Foiled Goil has posted the most unpleasant and unfriendly posts in response to me. It is merely a mutual understanding of dislike."

You started it. And you keep at it, with your spin and twist bull. Quit trying to play the innocent act, troll. Everyone here knows better.

"I think that by "distorts and deflects", you should actually say posting facts and calling people on their lies."

That obviously was more of your typo stuff, too. Surely you meant:

"I think that by "distorts and deflects", you should actually say posting bullshit and calling people on their facts."
...but if it will make you happy, I will take an extended hiatus from posting.
~ Newbie @ 27 Feb '08 - 16:18
We're not ever happy to read your crap. Now, go away.
by: Foiled Goil (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 17:31
You started it. And you keep at it

I have always and continue to post facts. I have been doing so here for years. I will not back down when people say nana oh no it isn't over and over or other similar nonsuported name calling rants.

"I think that by "distorts and deflects", you should actually say posting bullshit and calling people on their facts."

If you say so, you can call fact bullshit.

We're not ever happy to read your crap.

I think that by crap, you should actually say fact and non-Left-leaning opinion. Any non-consorfist post will be treated the same around here (i.e. name calling, foul language or just being told to get out.)
by: Newbie (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 18:11
Hey FG,

"I have always and continue to post facts. I have been doing so here for years."
newbie
"Yes, and it was only Bush who lied. I know that the Iraqi government never lied, I know that the insurgents have never lied and I know for sue that Al-Qaeda never lied."
Statement of "fact" with no proof, as usual.

I guess sue never lied, but sue didn't comment.
by: Father Tyme (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 18:33
@ 18:11

You have been consistently proven to be wrong here. Your "facts" are usually your opinions, or only what you choose to accept as fact. Don't even go there, Columbus.

"Any non-consorfist post will be treated the same around here (i.e. name calling, foul language or just being told to get out.)"

Uh-huh. Whatever, Mr. Twist-and-spin.

Stay off my threads.

FT, another one:

Ah, you are saying that he was hired by 'Bushco' to destroy the World Trade Center? Are you saying that he was just a pawn used by 'Bushco'? That's a good one.

"Let's twist again, like we did last summer..."
by: Foiled Goil (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 18:45
"I am not "dribbling", "giggling" nor "wanking" about who liked."

flip:
You see the response that stating a fact will get you around here? I say that all sides involved lied...
flop:
The Iraqi Government didn't lie to us.

No, they just disregarded the UN resolutions.
by: Foiled Goil (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 18:48
Stating a fact while being a wank, dribble or giggle. Tough to address such facts, from such a magnificent asshole.
by: blackdog (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 19:13
"I will not back down when people say nana oh no it isn't over and over or other similar nonsuported name calling rants."

I'm still looking for his supported "facts" here, blackdoggie!
by: Foiled Goil (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 19:20
Move over a little bit here Goil, there, that's right. Snuggle.

Z-Z-Z-Z-Z. Quietly of course.

This site has the best ladies next to blondesense. Tail wagging, head up, eyes sparkling, now turning into a pumpkin.
by: blackdog (contact) - 24 Mar '08 - 23:02
You guys rock! Every time I'm tempted to go wit to non-wit with Newbie, I hear a little voice in the back of my mind saying "never argue with a fool or a drunk, it's hard for the watchers to tell the difference."

And then you guys do. Thank you. rthy
by: Debra (contact) - 25 Mar '08 - 00:46
Saddam Hussein did in fact let the inspectors come into his country, with unfettered access to any site. That the facts, Jack.

I know that the insurgents have never lied and I know for sue that Al-Qaeda never lied. LOL. How balanced of you.

My (Numbie) President is just as honest as Al Qaeda...so back off!
by: trog69 (contact) - 25 Mar '08 - 07:38
Ah, you are saying that he was hired by 'Bushco' to destroy the World Trade Center? Are you saying that he was just a pawn used by 'Bushco'? That's a good one.

Ya know Newbie, when we were discussing the article about some size/age metric proposed by someone, and you brought up some animal (dogs?), I stayed out of it 'cause I felt the same as you did; That there were too many animals that didn't fit the parameters, so the hypothesis needed work. I couldn't figure out why people were foaming at the mouth at your, to me, valid question. This repugnant twisting of words explains it. The way you twisted Deb's words to mean something other than what everyone here, including you, knew to be that Bush never went after Bin Laden because he needed that boogie man for people like you to fear. She, and you, know full well that Bush did not have Osama on the payroll.

Oh, by the way, thanks for finally admitting that Bush is no better than Al Qaeda. We won't go into the insurgents, since their moral code is far truer than anything you or your Authoritarian figure Bush could ever hope to be. Also thanks for being man enough to state that the insurgents, and Al Qaeda, are two different entities.
by: trog69 (contact) - 25 Mar '08 - 08:14
can you prove otherwise?

You seem to have cause and effect mixed up. Bush and his posse got us in this mess by lying to us. If I have to prove THAT to you, then you are indeed, neutron star-dense. Your fellow authoritarians have admitted that much. They just feel that he lied for a good cause. What's your excuse?
by: trog69 (contact) - 25 Mar '08 - 08:21
As to the accusation that some around here resort to name calling, well I stand guilty as charged. Newbie, you are a fucktard.
by: blackdog (contact) - 25 Mar '08 - 15:00
Well blackie, looks like we smacked him down pretty good, huh? We win, again!! cool ing6
by: trog69 (contact) - 26 Mar '08 - 20:16
