If I Had A Rocket Launcher

by: Debra

Question of the day and quote of the week comes from Newsweek regarding the hunt for Osama, The Forgotten. Even though he has caused so much misery in his way too long time on this planet, he just hasn't been caught.
With all its spy satellites and aerial drones, killer commandos and millions in reward money, why can't the world's greatest superpower find a middle-aged, possibly ill, religious fanatic with a medieval mind-set?
Umm, this is just a guess but could it be because the crew without a clue had a different agenda, Osama had served his purpose and the debacle of Iraq was on its way to parturition? Or how about it was handled with all the grace, finesse and attention to detail that was accorded all of the other important projects that the crew without a clues has managed to screw up? There are more species closer to extinction than Osama will ever be.

The new glasses finally arrived and the world is a bit more in focus. For as expensive as they were, they should do more than that. Buying glasses is not as easy as it looks, but I paid attention and my next pair will be bought online. I need a pair of computer glasses and since I don't need to wear them in public, I can the buy cheapest frames with no frills for less than a hundred dollars at any one of the stores that were reviewed here. Not that this is a good thing, but it does make it much easier to read. Some of the websites have a light color print on a white background and focusing was hard because they blurred easily.

Speaking of hundreds of dollars, the $100 bill is getting a new look next year. Ben Franklin will move from side to side or up and down depending on how you view the bill. I don't mean to offend anyone but it sounds like it is guaranteed to keep stoners and autistics fascinated for hours.

The iPod greeted me first thing this morning with its quirky shuffle of Here I Go Again by Whitesanke, followed by The Look Of Love by Dusty Springfield, Holding On To Yesterday by Ambrosia, Ring Of Fire by Johnny Cash and Turn Of A Friendly Card by The Alana Parsons Project. Nostalgia seems to be the theme. The rating system fascinates me. Since I bought these tunes individually, wouldn't they all be high rated? What is the purpose of having a category that indicates you don't like the song? Do people really buy songs they don't like? Why? I can understand if you just added albums indiscriminately but then you can uncheck the songs you don't like and the next time you sync, poof!

Which is what I want to happen to Osama bin Laden.

Tnanks to Bruce Cockburn for the title. And the sentiment.

Good point on the ratings; I've certainly never used it.

When I purchased my ipod, I listened to a lot of podcasts, and the sound level was uneven at best. Fortunately, I found a fantastic solution for 100 bucks. It's called the Lafferty HEADBANGER 2 headphone amplifier. WOW!! The sound quality is superb. It plugs into any headphone jack, and runs on two AA batteries, so you use it with your desktop or laptop. Now that there's no need to turn the volume up very much on the ipod, it's battery lasts much, much longer.

I got mine from the SOUND PROFESSIONALS. You can also purchase a kit and put it together yourself, for added savings.

one thing i've always wondered about when it came to that whole wanted dead, or alive bullshit is that for the last six years they have been unable to find a 6'4" left handed arab on dialysis in pakistan.

seriously, please explain that failure to me.

Minstrel Boy, you know the answer to that one. They gotta have the biggest of the big bad wolves to keep hunting. Perhaps someone to blame the next 9/11 on.

I mean besides us defeatocrats.

Ah, so he's sinister in more ways than one. The only excuse is that they don't want to catch him. He's too useful running around free, that way he can always be used as a bogeyman. ead

Trog69, why is that only obvious to us and not the rest of the populace? I feel like the last one at the party, all the jello shots are gone and everyone has a buzz except me. Sometimes it gets very lonely.

There's lots of us out here, baby...as far as knowing that whole jump outta Afghanistan was bogus. I guess most people get tired of thinking WTF, but knowing there's very little we can do. I just left a rather large get together (major depression has kept me home for over two years before today so...Yay me!) and the rock-ribbed Republicans of last year are fed up with all of it. Not just Bush, the whole right enchilada. That gives me some hope. Here, have some of my hope! I got plenty!

I'm no expert on this, but from what I've seen for people on dialysis, even if you try to take care of yourself otherwise, dialysis will only keep you going for so long...and it must be done every other day. Figure about a five-hour chunk outta the day to do so. Cuts into other activities, lemme tell ya...
A lot of the people I've worked with who are on dialysis are on waiting lists for a kidney...and the ones who aren't 'good candidates' are in pretty poor shape indeed.

So...maybe Osama bin Forgotten waiting for a kidney then? confused

Oh BTW, I hate to be the narc, but Phydeaux drank all the Jello shots. Serve him right if he went into diabetic coma!

So...maybe Osama bin Forgotten waiting for a kidney then?

I wonder if he found a donor already. Hell, if noone turned him in for the $50million reward, I'm sure whole tribes would give up a kidney for him, if they matched.
