Jerry Falwell, 1933-2007

by: Chet Scoville

It's difficult to be charitable when acknowledging the passing of someone whose life's work you despised. I guess all I've got to say is that I'm more concerned with the continuing effects of his efforts here on Earth than I am with the fate of his immortal soul -- because the latter is really none of my business. So yes, all in all I hope he gets some peace in death; now, let's see about unravelling his harmful legacy back down here on the material plane, yes?

Good points, Chet. (But I do kinda wonder if he found out how hot Hell is.)

if there turns out to be a god, out there somewhere, i personally hope that it proves to be a merciful god rather than a just god. i can also wish the same for the revered falwell.

If there turns out to be a god, I think he is both merciful and just. Merciful to those deserving, and just to those who have mocked the principles of fairness, charity and love.
