Perhaps this is inconvenient timing, but President Barack Obama has nominated Dana Perino for a seat on the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

In my judgment, it is one thing to be an unrepentent fool, but it is quite something else to be the leader to allow such a fool driven from the halls of power to return.

Then again, in November of 2004, the U.S. electorate rejected a decortated combat veteran in favor of George W. Bush, the commander-in-chief on whose watch in September of 2001 19 maniacal religious zealots armed with nothing more than box cutters sliced through the entirety of the American defense network and dropped a couple of skyscrapers in New York City and blasted through the very heart of our Defense Department at the Pentagon.

Maybe Mr. Obama thinks that, if he doesn't send Mr. Bush and his cabal of miserably incompetent, mendacious losers to prison where they belong, the Right-wing, incompetent, delusional extremists who endlessly spew their toxic lies will learn to love him.

They won't.

Neither will I find reason to respect him for his aversion to having this nation actually face the cold, ugly realities of the eight years that preceded his presidency.

Perino, McChrystal, Gates, Mueller, Bernanke, Geithner, and on down the line.
