Rambling Thoughts

by: Debra

Man's inhumanity towards man is one thing, directed at a child is another. Unlike most recent police shootings, this one was totally, absolutely justified. I may not have seen the preceding events, but my imagination is good enough that the image will probably never leave my mind. Thank goodness I wasn't there, I would have probably tried to run him over with my car. Rabid animals are dangerous.

Cheez'n'rice! What has to happen before America gets a clue and realizes that we aren't wearing white hats anymore?

Bush and his imagination are no where near reality. I guess insanity is a better defense than incompetence. Or stupidity.

They're coming to take me away, ha haa, hee hee. Except it isn't to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time.

No? Really? I wish I could be surprised and outraged, but I'm not. It's the cost of doing business nowadays. Just not for the little guy.

Monkey see, monkey do

Surprise and outrage would require more energy and enthusiasm that I can muster up these days. Disgust and cynicism, maybe. I just feel tired. Is this election ever going to end? And I have a big one in August and November. Some interesting things on a local level I'll tell you about when I know more. How is Mom? Tell her I asked. Down here when you have any kind of conversation you always ask, How's your Mom? I spoke with Brother over the weekend and he had just finished The Appeal by John Grisham. So we had a lengthy chat about that. Why in God's name are we killing and maiming our children? "Our" because we are all responsible. As HRC said it really does take a village! Tell me what you think about Gore's endorsement of Obama. We splurged and went out to dinner to honor my children's Dad. I am one of those who listens to the background music in restaurants. When they played Paul Simon's, Call me Al, I got all misty-eyed. We saw him perform that song at the Tennessee Ball at the Inauguration of Clinton. At a reception by Sen Sasser, the staff planned for about 2500 and 7000 Tennesseans showed up. How on earth did the United States get so screwed up in such a short time? I'm just rambling, too!

Mom is mom. She got pissed because I had the candle party and threw away my stash. I also spoke with the brother with the MBA this w/e and he is not doing well financially but seven months with no income will do that to you. He started some tomatoes and peppers in his front yard and is trying to convince the neighbors that are left to grow a variety of veggies so they can trade.

As for the neverending election cycle, if the crew without a clue actually intend on leaving office (which I doubt), it will end on election day and start up again on Jan. 21, 2009. ead I just don't care anymore.

You just can't seem to catch a break, can you? Sorry about the stash! Most every American is hurting. My bro is retired military (USN) and he is trying to raise 2 young grandchildren. First wife died of cancer, 2nd wife had 2 kids when they married so he adopted her still dependent son. These are this son's children. Mother lives in another state and Dad wants a life! HA! The thing is that both of these kids are in gifted schools and are quite a challenge for my bro who will be 69 next month.
My friend who always supplies sweet corn died last year and no one else has stepped up. But my tomatoes are really going gangbusters, big as baseballs already but still real green. Son has some really interesting herbs and peppers so I'm really looking forward to that.I can't seem to grow blueberries! After 3 yrs the plants are still only knee high and what berries they have the birds get. I do have lots of red blackberries and I'm hoping the birds will leave me enough for a few jars of jelly. Picked up no. 1 gr-child at the pool and she spent the night. We had huge frosted cupcakes and barbecue pork sandwiches with chips. We only eat like this when she is here! She's sleeping in but has to go home after lunch. Young people(& dogs) just lift the spirits of the whole house when they are around! She'll have to face reality one day, but it won't be today! Take care of yourself Deb!

I might try growing some fruit next year. Something easy, just not strawberries. biggrin

What are you thinking? Peaches, apricots, pears, apples or cherries? Dwarf varieties produce faster and require less space to grow.Last year I bought 2 of each:peach, nectarine and apple. They only have a few pieces of fruit this year but I expect big rewards next year!

Cherries are my favorite fruit. Maybe I should get a dwarf tree this year.
