Oh, The Irony!

by: Debra

Is freeping unbelievable! How they ever managed to paint John Kerry as a flipflopper when these guys change positions faster than Bush changes his rationale for invading Iraq.
Apparently, the Left hates gays and believes that private sexual preferences belong on the front page.
Excuse me? Did I read that right? From the party that was so fixated on a blue dress and a cigar?

I know nothing about the alleged incidents of which Senator Craig (R-ID) is purported to be a participant. That is not the issue. The issue is the fluid attachment to truth and reality that the right seems to enjoy. For the last two elections "prevent the gays from getting married or have any rights whatsoever" has been front and center in the battle to control the country. Now, when it is obvious that some members of the Republican party prefer outies instead of innies, the righties are going to squeal foul?

These are the same people who wanted a President impeached for lying about having consensual sex with a woman over 21, which was a matter between him and his wife. Period. As long as she didn't kill him, it was none of the country's business. But that didn't stop the "moral" Republicans from investigating the minutiae of Clinton's life. Nope, not at all. Now they find it unseemly that someone might find it interesting, that a Senator who is alleged to swing both ways and then deliberately votes against his conscience, is hiding it from the public? Of course it's interesting. Heck, it's titillating.
Once again, the Left shows its obsession with sexuality, but it's really more than that. The Left obsesses over identity politics in all forms, and that obsession comes out in pathological terms. Rogers reveals this in his blog post, demanding that gay staffers on the Hill identify their orientation publicly, or else he will do it for them. Sexual identity is everything to him, and the concept of sexual privacy has no value to him at all. He wants to humiliate gays who prefer to keep their sexual activity private, forcing them to wear the virtual pink triangle against their will to experience obloquy and castigation.
Pink triangle for you, blue dress for us. Obloquy? Surely you jest. Did America really need to know about the details of a blowjob? The story was shoved down our throats and you guys salivated for more. As Gary Hart found out, you can't play footsie with someone who isn't your spouse and not expect to get caught. Eventually.

Suck it up, relax. It goes down easier that way.

just when i figure the posing and hypocrisy can attain no greater height they prove me wrong once again. when bush (the poppy) was doing the run up for the first phase of the gulf war i was playing as a semi regular with paul revere and the raiders doing the nevada circuit. we had a bit where paul would introduce me as "the preznit" and, instead of doing a george bush impression, i would do maxwell smart. he would ask me why we needed to go to war and i would say "because iraq is being imperialistic." paul would say "but they have a legitimate case before the world court about kuwait being a province of iraq throughout history. kuwait was invented by the british in the 20's." i would say "would you believe that we're doing it to defend democracy?" he would point out that kuwait was a monarchy, "would you believe that we are doing it for freedom?" he would point out that kuwait didn't outlaw slavery until the 60's and that even today it was condition that was mostly winked at in kuwaiti society. we kept going with that one for a while until i would break down and say "i want to sing a song." everybody in the band would start to mutter and hem and haw. i would then pull out a revolver from behind my amp, fire a blank into the ceiling and say "i said, i want to sing a song." paul would then say "this is stevie, we're crazy about his damn singing." we would launch into "louie, louie" and tear the place to shreds.

in the case of wee georgie, the apple doesn't rot far from the tree.

I had the biggest crush on Mark Lindsay when I was a teen. He was the only poster I had on my wall, except for the blacklight poster of "yea, thou I walk thru the valley of death I shall fear no evil because I am the meanest SOB, until my dad made me take it down.

I feel old all of a sudden. redface

it is one of the funnest shows you can do. great rock and roll. high energy. did i mention we had a shitload of fun? paul is a prince. i never got to work with mark lindsay, but he was a great pop vocalist. paul revere never really got the respect from the industry that he deserved. he's a great arranger and beyond decent pianist (like better than a whole bunch of guys that claim to be virtuoso level). he's also a lot of fun to work for and with. we would laugh our way through entire sets. plus, the outfits rule. i look completely stupid in them. so does everyone else, once you force yourself to appear in front of an audience dressed like that there isn't much worry about what people will think left to make you nervous. also, paul pays double scale. that alone gets me on his good side.
